The arrest, trial and crucifixion of Jesus are the most descriptive events in the Gospel. The death and resurrection of Jesus are at the heart of the Christian story.

The purpose of this project is to express the significance of these events in a manner that would capture the attention of present day audience while remaining authentic to the central message of the Gospel.

Using the web tool “Animoto” you will gather images, music, words and phrases to present your modern day “Stations of the Cross” in a technological manner. Please have your resources ready for our time in the computer lab. We will have 2 days dedicated to this project.

The “Animoto” must be completed and properly placed on the wiki site by 3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. There will be a 5-point deduction for each day it is late.

process2.jpg

1. Students will reflect on the stations.
2.They will use Google to find pictures that portray a modern -day version of the stations. Saving all their pictures in .jpg format into the server folder made for this purpose. Pictures cannot be put on a word document since the .jpg are then incorporated into word. If this research is done at home they can get the pictures here by either saving them to a thumb drive, using the digital drop-box in BB or emailing each picture to themselves.
3. After a short introduction to Animoto they will create a pictorial representation of their modern-day version of the stations. They will tell the story of modern-day stations using pictures , words and sound.
4. The finished product will be downloaded as a mp4 and saved to their server account.
5. Also after the slideshow is rendered the embed code will be placed on their wikispace page for class access.
6. During Holy Week the students will use the completed project in class as a way to pray with and meditate on the Stations of the Cross as they were lived both by Jesus and our world today.

Through this project students had the opportunity to think more deeply about the stations, about Jesus' suffering and how today many people from all walks and cultures are still suffering. They also had the opportunity to work with a web 2.0 tool called Animoto to creatively present their stations in slideshow format with words and music therefore expanding and honing their technology skills.
